Clementine

I have previously writen about Olivers music in my previous posts here and here. This time around Id like to put the focus on the lyrics and the artwork that often accompanies his sleeve designs and video story boards. I plan this to be an ongoing series concentrating on the words and artwork from the Oliver Shaw Experience recent song book,  so expect more in 2026.

Oliver Shaw’s “Clementine” continues the tender, dreamlike sensibility explored in his earlier work. The song blends poetry into a meditation on memory and devotion, echoing themes I have mentioned before.

Through lines like “I will not forget you,” Oliver transforms nostalgia into quiet resilience. The shifting seasons  summer to December  trace love’s persistence through time. His two accompanying illustrations deepen that emotion.

As in his previous work, Shaw blurs the line between reality and surrealist verse. With five more illustrated poems forthcoming, Clementine stands as a luminous opening, a small complete world where art and remembrance meet. Above are examples of Olivers work for the song and video storyboard and a recently finished collage by IamnotRanksy

Clementine is the next Oliver Shaw single due out in Febrary and  will be accompanied by a video, I will update this page with links to the song and music video when they become available.

here are the lyrics to Clementine.

Verse

Clementine would you be my girlfriend.

You could be my only best friend.

In the middle of our summer.

I see your picture, I would not forget you.

Clementine you were mine forever.

In the middle of October.

In the mist you seize the picture.

Lost forever I will not forget you.

Chorus.

Tell me all your dreams all your secret verses.

Tell me who you’d like to be.

All I have are thoughts of the love we once had.

Of how we always tried to see.

Where do you go?

Where do you go?

Over the sea to sky.

I would wait a life for, I would wait a life for, I would wait a life for you.

Verse 2.

Clementine you are mine forever,

In the middle, silent splendour.

In the middle of December .

You’re list forever, I will not forget you

Chorus 2.

Tell me all your dreams all your secret verses.

Tell me who you’d like to be.

All I have are thoughts of the love we once had.

Of how we always tried to see.

Where do you go?

Where do you go?

Over the sea to sky.
