Embracing a Modern Beat Vision

As the cover artist for several Beatnpress titles, I have witnessed firsthand the unique quality and creativity that define this independent press and its authors and poets.  I started providing cover art for titles like Danny Gray’s Beat Dimensions a year or two ago.

Beatnpress is a small independent book publisher founded by author/poet Jason Disley. It specialises in works inspired by the Beat Generation and modernist literature – including poetry collections, jazz-themed short stories, novellas, and music-related titles. The press emphasizes creative, music-infused storytelling (Jason is known for using “unusual Jazz-like rhythms” in his writing).

Beatnpress was founded on the idea of a modern Beat movement where music, literature and culture collide. Indeed, each publication feels like a jazz-fueled fusion of rhythm and soul

Every book brims with life and experience, often drawing on music for inspiration. Whether it’s a poetry collection pulsing with improvisational energy or a noir novella laced with song references, the spirit of Beat culture and music-inspired storytelling shines through in every work written by enthusiastic and passionate authors. As a lifelong jazz and mid century  art lover, it’s creatively fulfilling to channel that vibe into cover designs that complement a book’s soul.

Of course aficionados of style will remember ‘The Desired Article a Concise Look at Style

This book is Beatnpress creator and author, Jason Disley's first forray into writing a nonfiction book.  Its a book that is about  the style history of menswear. A must for everyone who loves their clobber and is interested in  counterculture.

A recent review of Jasons ‘The Lost Notes’ stated:

"An Unconventional Novel" indeed, which shouldn't put off any potential reader, because Jason Disley, whom I see more confident in his own skills with each new step he takes, manages to integrate all the separate elements that make "The Lost Notes" into a coherent whole: a carefully designed mosaic, and even more important, a highly enertaining one.

Feedback like this tells me that the press’s bold, genre-blending approach truly resonates with its audience. As an artist, I feel proud knowing my cover art is part of these books’ appeal. It’s inspiring to collaborate with writers who push boundaries and to see the community respond so positively to its output.
